What kind of school is Seaside
Christian Academy?
Seaside Christian Academy (SCA) is an independent
community Christian School supporting the churches of
Worcester and Sussex counties.
What type of curriculum does SCA
follow?
The State of Maryland has approved our program
because we voluntarily follow the Maryland State Standards.
The basis of our curriculum is the world famous Abeka
Curriculum, which is used by thousands of schools.
What sports are offered at SCA?
SCA currently has teams for volleyball, boys' and
girls' basketball, and soccer for students in grades 5-8,
and soccer for younger children through Upward Soccer.
What kind of certification is
required for SCA teachers?
SCA teachers must be certifiable by the
Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), or
the State of Maryland or a state whose certification is
recognized by Maryland, or the teacher must be working
towards such certification.
Is SCA accredited?
SCA is recognized by the State of
Maryland for our Pre-school and up to the Eighth Grade, and
is a member of the Association of Christian Schools,
International (ACSI).
Do SCA students do any State
testing?
SCA students are tested annually with the
Stanford Achievement Test, 10th Edition, which is used by
schools around the world. This tool monitors student
achievement and gives valuable feedback to teachers,
parents, and students.
Does the school provide
transportation?
No.
Do SCA students have to wear
uniforms?
Yes. The students at SCA wear shirts purchased
from the school, and have certain other guidelines which are
spelled out in the Student Handbook.
