Many of you have seen in the news the recent rash of “bomb threats” to several public schools. These threats have occurred all over the nation but this month we saw day after day schools in Worcester County and southern Delaware threatened by anonymous callers. I saddens me that there are people who have no compulsion about threatening the lives of children. This is obviously a well coordinated attack on our society at large. I don't know if this is someone's idea of a big joke or if it is a terrorist plot to disrupt our schools and law enforcement agencies.  I do know that it is satanic in nature and that the heart of it is pure evil. In my flesh, I want the culprit or culprits caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But in my spirit I am saddened that we live in a time where this has become the norm. Seldom does a day go by that we do not hear about students somewhere being attacked and killed by some intruder into our schools. I hear the frustration in our politicians, parents, and educational leaders. I have ideas in my own mind about how we should handle this crisis in our world. I want to scream at the politicians who use these events to promote their own agendas and offer no real solutions. I am angry that we have allowed things in our country to progress to this level. I am no prophet but I can connect the dots. When we outlaw prayer and the Bible in our schools, when we bar the name of God from our classrooms, and when we promote promiscuous lifestyles and unbiblical practices to our students then what should we expect will be the outcome.

Ephesians 6:12 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

As I read this passage of scripture, I am reminded that there is no simple solution to the problems we are facing. We cannot legislate or design an educational solution to the problem. We cannot lecture or demand conformity from people. We cannot change individual hearts or actions. The only solution that I can see is that we need a spiritual awakening in America. Speaking historically and spiritually, a Spiritual Awakening is God initiated, but in comes when God's people submit themselves to prayer and fasting. It is when God's people stop trying to fix things and start yielding themselves wholeheartedly and absolutely to the will of God. It is when we stop telling God how to fix the problems and how we want Him to respond, and we submit ourselves to the total will of God that He can begin changing lives and our world. He first changes us and opens doors for us to minister most effectively. In our submission, we lay our lives on the line, yield our will, and open ourselves to becomes instruments in the hands of God. In a spiritual battle we must fight spiritually. Prayer and the Word of God are our primary weapons. Our defense is the armor of God found in Ephesians 6. This is not how we have been fighting this battle. We have placed our hope in the next election or those in political power. This has never worked. Our only hope is in the power of the most High God. We must seek the face and the will of God through Jesus Christ. It is when we truly seek God's protection and wisdom that our children will be safe. It is when we become completely submitted to our Lord that our fear will subside and our strength will be renewed.

Check this article out. It hits way to close to home for most of as parents and grandparents, but I believe is right on target. It may seem like it is long but it is worth the read.

Check out this op ed from "The Daily Signal". I love what we do at Seaside Christian Academy but I have great respect for those families who have chosen to "Home School" their children and I believe that public education needs to make some major changes if it is going to remain viable in America.
